Owner of Gravity East Village and Certified Colonic Therapist
Donna’s holistic health journey began in 1989 when seeking her recovery from a chronic disease called Candida. Also, she suffered from constipation, acne, PMS, an inability to gain weight, panic attacks, and indigestion. She made a transition to a mostly live / raw food vegan diet, and made better lifestyle choices which improved her health dramatically.
“After several years of eating primarily raw food without the use of colonics, my energy and health diminished. In 1997, I discovered that colon hydro-therapy was the missing link to proper cleansing and detoxification. Having witnessed so many healings over the years with diet changes, cleansing methods and colonics, I am naturally drawn and inspired to do this work for a living”.
“My mission is to provide a forum for people to discover and achieve optimal health and well-being. Through my work and by facilitating workshops I can help to support, provide information and create a community of health conscious people”.
Accent on Wellness began in 1995 in NYC. As a volunteer, Donna organizes, hosts guest speakers and is a group facilitator for this healthy lifestyle transition group. The aim of AOW is to offer support, share information, & create a community. The emphasis is to increase the amount of raw food in ones diet, to cleanse and nourish the body properly, and to understand all the tenants needed for a healthy life. Donna teaches workshops such as: Healthy Lifestyle/Transition, Candida Recovery, Juice Fasting/Blended Food Cleanse, Gallbladder Flush Group and more. AOW offers social events such as a Raw Foods Potluck, Movie Nite, and hosts special Guest Speakers.
Donna has taught workshops and retreats at many venues such as Accent on Wellness, The New Life Expo-NY, Integral Yoga Institute, Kris Carr / Urban Zen, Jivamukti Yoga Center, Transformation with Amy Rachelle, Dharma Yoga Center, The Raw Spirit Festival, and the Jungle Cafe.
Donna offers one-on-one nutritional counseling sessions to guide you through a cleanse or to transition to a better diet. She works with you where you are and encourages her client’s as they are ready. Her experience in 2004-05 working as a nutritional counselor for Thomas Lodi, MD, also known as the ‘Raw Food MD’ was a priceless experience. Her many years of leading support group style meetings in the community have provided her with quite an education.
Prior to working in natural health Donna worked as a freelance illustrator for 15 years. She illustrated children’s books with cultural themes. Her BFA degree is from School of Visual Arts, NY.
Other interests include: Art, yoga, nature, hiking, travel, & bird watching.
